An Explanation of the Importance of Embedded Text Ad Links
An embedded text ad is defined as any web page link placed into the body copy of a document located on another site.
This is how it work: Your web site offers designer dog houses. My web site provided general information about dogs; different breeds, what food to use, etc. One of the pages on my site is explains proper shelter for dogs living outside. Naturally, my page on shelter will mention the term dog house. By using the dog house term as anchor text for a link to your designer dog house site, it is now considered an embedded text ad.
The importance of links to a web site has been discussed extensively on the Internet. Most webmaster fully understand that all search engines grant importance to how many links point to a web site. The quality of the links is another factor.
If a link points to a web site from a related site, search engines will see that link as being of a higher quality. For example a link to your dog house site from my dog site is viewed by the search engines than one from a web site selling condoms. Unless of course the condoms are made for use by dogs.
Another thing to consider is the anchor text of the links pointing to your site. In an ideal situation, the main keywords of a web site should be used as the anchor text. However, do not make the text the same for all links, vary the phrases. If not, search engines may devalue the links. For example, for your site on designer dog houses, use phrases such as "European-style designer dog houses," or "dog houses designed with your dog in mind." Let your innate creativity guide you.
In summary, as you plan your text ad campaign you will want as many as your budget allows. Your embedded text links should come from relevant web sites or pages, and your anchor text should be varied. So this and soon you will see your web site's position climbing in the search results.
