Barry Schwartz, also known as rustybrick, had an interesting post the other day concerning how quickly Goolge indexes blog posts and other fresh content. Some webmasters have reported have reported at the Digital Point Forums that Google is picking up and ranking new content within three hours, he wrote.

This is great news for sites with blogs hoping to attract links. But not just any blog post will do. The content you put up in your blog must be fresh and add value to your particular niche.

One way to achieve this is to be among the first to add breaking industry news to your site. This means you will have to be aware of current happenings in your area of expertise and ready to post them to your blog immediately. Adding your own particular explanation of the event will only help attact links to your site.

Now some of you might feel that you lack the expertise to add a blog to your site, but not to worry. WordPress takes the mystery out of adding a free blog and makes it easy for even the most technically challenged. If you would like, they will even install it for free but not if it's for a commercial site.

Some webmasters have used software from Blogger.com, but we have found it is much harder to integrate into your site. It's a good stand-alone program, but will not help you attract links to you main site.
